Junior Section

We had our first junior session last saturday, and I hope it was enjoyed by all who attended. After introductions we discussed possible nicknames for our section , had a mystery mineral quiz, looked at specimens through Don's microscope (Thanks Don), identified some stones and made labels for them. We also discussed future junior competitions and Dorice showed us some samples of these so our juniors know what to look out for in the months ahead. After a wordfind puzzle, future sessions were also discussed and it was requested that the kids bring an exercise book, folder or envelope large enough to put handouts into.
Next months session (Saturday October 27) will be a trip to Leithfield beach to collect variegated jaspers and any other items of interest. Our meeting place will be the childrens playground (before you reach the camping ground) at 10.30 am. An invititation is extended for all interested members to join us
What to bring...
a bag for collecting items
old sneakers, beachshoes or gumboots
sunblock and a hat that will stay on in the wind
jacket
notebook and pen
a picnic lunch and bottle of drink
(a change of clothes is recommended)
Please ring me Liana on 3891195 or email lianak@xtra.co.nz during the week prior to confirm.
In the event of bad weather, we will have activities at the clubrooms instead at 1.30pm
