Peter de Blois - Tenor

Peter de Blois graduated in Performance Voice from the School of Music, Victoria University, where his teacher was Emily Mair. After serving as organ scholar and sub-organist at St Paul’s Cathedral, Dunedin, sub-organist at Christchurch Cathedral, and assistant director of music at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, he spent two years as a lay clerk at Ely Cathedral in England.

He studied singing with Nicholas Powell in Manchester and was a member of the Cambridge University Chamber Choir and the Britten-Pears Chamber Choir.

Currently director of music at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and assistant conductor of The Tudor Consort, Peter teaches singing and is active nationally as a tenor soloist. Recent solo work includes Monteverdi’s 1610 Vespers, Gareth Farr’s Te Papa, Mozart’s Cosė fan tutte and The Impresario, and Beethoven’s Symphony No 9 (Choral). Forthcoming engagements include Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, St Matthew Passion and St John Passion.
